There are a wide range of slopes available for beginners, including nursery slopes at village level. When you want to build confidence between or after lessons, there are several blue runs above Maria Alm which are great for practicing those turns.
The majority of the runs in this area are red, so this is a real intermediate’s paradise. You get a real sense of travelling here, as you cruise between the little villages. A great one to try is the long red which link the village of Hinterthal to Hintermoos.
In the large bowl behind the Aberg ridge, there’s some great off-piste opportunities down ungroomed ski routes. There are also several mogul slopes – the best are adjacent to the Aberg Langeck and Gabühel runs. There’s also a racing slope and a steep black above Maria Alm.
